DAY 2 - BLAH

Little Ethan and I enjoying a few laughs - he's a Gilbert, game for anything!

Sunday was a steroid nausea day. The slight nausea feels like I have hungry pangs. When I eat, I feel better . . . I could pig out all day. I am not getting in to that game. Besides, my taste buds are gone so where's the enjoyment? I am drinking as much water as possible, so that helps.

Monday morning now . . . and I feel like a million bucks compared to yesterday! I think I'll head out for a walk :)

DAY ONE AFTER CHEMO

Last night I was a tomato steroid face. My cheeks were bright red and my jawline was lost in puffiness. I was one round hot-house tomato head. I didn't feel bad, just hot.

Today I feel nauseated. My tomato face is gone. I worked on my final Masters paper for a few three, four, five hours. I put it away when Ethan got up from his afternoon nap. We went out to play soccer. He was more interested in drinking his juice box than anything else.

Mom and dad came over for supper. Oh yeah - my taste buds are gone. I am sure the meal was lovely. grrrrrr After dinner, Jordyn went to her friend home to have a sleepover. I think I am off to the fart sack early.

We'll wait and see what tomorrow brings . . .

CHEMO ROUND #2

Chemo Babe Fighting Cancer . . . that was me today folks! I arrived at the clinic just after 9:00 and after getting hooked up and comfy - it was just after noon when the dripping ended. Rhonda, Ethan, Jordyn, and I went to mom and dad's and then shopping. My taste buds are already tingling and so I enjoyed as much of a the dinner flavour as possible. I just finished my second round of anti-nausea drugs for the day. My cheeks are flushed and I am getting a bit tired.

Here are pictures of the folks who came out to chemo today . . . xoxox

Hair cut #2 - The Mohawk

Sarah and mom watch. Sarah blessed us with the two thumbs up!
A few more cuts and the Mohawk was created!
Dan, Norm, and Bruce supervise . . .

Great Evening!

My hair was falling out at an alarming rate . It was definitely time to get rid of it! At the Grand Bald-off, we had a great time! There are so many pictures that I will do them in phases over the next couple of days.

Linda was ready and primed to go. We had to wait a bit for the Easton and Tuggle crowd to arrive. Christine and Ken were in the peanut gallery, along with Sarah, Shelley, Dan, Jordyn, Griffin, Norm, and dad.

The first haircut was the Hugh Norman (Shoobacka). This cut was dedicated to my cousin, Vivian.

Linda cut for a bit and . . . ta-dah! The Hugh Norman was created!

IT'S TIME . . . THE GRAND BALD OFF

FRIDAY & SATURDAY

Friday was a great day! Jordyn went with her class to Vanderhoof for a field trip. Auntie Shelley went as a chaperone. Apparently a great time was had by all. Jordyn was ecstatic when she was the overall winner of a triple scoop icecream cone! Oh yes . . . if a student answered all the questions for the days activities correctly, they received two scoops of icecream. All the double scoop winning papers were then put back in a draw for a third scoop. Icecream, sweet-tooth princess won the scoop and flew across the field to relay her story to auntie. Excitement at its best! However, although this was great - out of everyone - I think auntie Shelley had the best time :) Pictures to follow

Rhonda and Ethan also left in the morning to go and see the special Pesls (peshuls). Those two will be back Wednesday. Thursday is my blood work, PICC change, and physical once over. Friday at 9:00am is chemo. Ding, Ding . . . round 2. Rhonda, my home nurse, won't miss either day. I miss my little morning shadow following me around though. Mister has grown on me and I miss his sporadic hugs and kisses. xoxo

Jordyn is with her dad this weekend. She is usually resistant to go on Fridays and pops in the door Sunday night smiling after having a good time. What a kid. As long as she doesn't have to sit and watch Nascar racing (around and around and around) and she and her dad do something together . . . she's over the moon. Fingers crossed.

I went to my doctor and then over to get prescriptions filled for round 2. Norm and I went shopping and puttered around. Griffin had swimming at 5:3opm and dinner was attempted to be ready for 4:45. Did you know that a watched pot never boils? The angel hair pasta was a tad gummy . . . yuck. Oh well, no one died. Later we watched The Flock (Richard Gere) Creepy deepy - I recommend it.

Saturday . . . Norm and I went to the breakfast club. Yummy. I had one or two or three of every muffin, scone, coffee cake slice in sight. Mom also had philo pastry breakfast wraps. If I had a third hand I would have choked myself. Mom is the best cook ever. Shelley and her man, rotten Ronny were there too. Always good for a laugh.
Since then I have been sleeping. Yes, sleeping. I am bushed. It is now 6:17pm and I have done nothing today. I guess my body needed that. I feel nauseated, hot, and tired. I will be lying low and keeping watch of this. The crown of my head hurts again and more hair is falling out. I just want hair for my Vancouver trip on Tuesday and then it can go . . .

THURSDAY UPDATE

This morning I flew up the university hill. I wanted to run . . . but I'll have to wait for Sheina's nod next Tuesday. Fingers crossed. I'll behave myself . . .

Later I had my PICC dressing changed at the hospital. The room was full. Many friends and family were sitting with other survivors :) I was sad that the room was full, but it was nice to see numerous people supporting their loved ones.

Next Thursday I'll be having my blood work done and a meeting with a local oncologist before heading into chemo Friday. I have one good week left. I feel great!

Tuesday - June 17th

Last night, mom, dad, and Shelley took my nephew Mike out for dinner to the Shogun for a farewell dinner. Little Mikey is on his way to Penticton to work. He will work for the summer, while staying with his girlfriend's family. THEN in November, the two love birds are going traveling this big bad world! I am so happy for him!

SARAH ROCKS!

Not only is Sarah performing her cartwheel routine at the Ramada on July 19th, she also makes time to be a seamstress. Check out her head gear . . . VERY NICE little friend. Let's get into business . . . These are WAY nicer than anything I have seen. The sites online are older lady chemo head wraps. Nice for older ladies - but we need to funk things up just like this. The side tie . . . chemo head. I like this style MUCH better.
